How To Spot Fake Vintage Levi's 501 Jeans

Levi’s have become the most iconic denim brand there is, so naturally fakes would come into circulation. 501’s have become the ‘ultimate’ jean and most reliable, possibly why they have the untouchable staying power they do.

They have a certain comfort level, you know what you’re going to get. 🙌

Fakes have become quite common for Levi’s, especially in the vintage scene. Keep reading to see how we spot them 👇

One way to tell is by the leather on the rear patch. Stitching should be good quality and in line with the printed square. If its wonky or not straight, its probably fake.

The red tag located on the back pocket would also be different on fake Levi’s. The colour may be off, they usually are a lot bigger in size and the font is completely different.

Authentic Levi’s almost always have the jean style number stamped onto the back of the top button, which then matches the care label. Fakes won’t have this aspect and if they have a number stamped, they probably won’t match the label.

Quality of stitching is also a big indicator. Levi’s are quality products, and this is reflected in every aspect. Stitching should be straight and constant around the hems and seams.

Next to an authentic pair of Levi's, the fakes are pretty easy to spot, mainly down to the quality off the items. From the actual denim, stitching labels and buttons. However, if you spot a pair and you're unsure hopefully these points will help
