Go Places Manchester: Green Spaces

Zen Places in and out of the City

Enjoy a little zen time in and out of the city centre of Manchester with our recommended hotspots for a walk in greenery or by the waterside. Grab a book or a coffee and enjoy these spaces to the fullest!

Alexandra Park

Get Directions 180 Russell St, Manchester M16 7JL

Sixty acres of greenery out of the city centre. Enjoy a wander by the lake come rain or shine to get a walk in before or after a class. Alexandra Park in Manchester is a great spot in summer for picky bits and a "bev" with friends.

Castlefield Canals

Get Directions Bridgewater Canal Tow Path, Manchester M15 4SX

Get the tram to Deansgate and enjoy this little hub area just out of Manchester’s city centre. Here you can have a wander by the canal, grab a coffee, and have a read. It's a great spot in the summer, especially if you’re coming from the National Trust spot of the newly converted viaduct.

Heaton Park

Get Directions Sheepfoot Ln, Manchester M25 0DL

Home of the Parklife festival in June, Heaton Park is a lovely spot to escape the city all year round. Enjoy their golf course, farm, and manor house for a full day. They have picnic benches dotted around for you to enjoy a whole afternoon there.

Fletcher Moss Botanical Gardens

Get Directions 18 Stenner Ln, Didsbury, Manchester M20 2RQ

Hop on the tram to Didsbury from the city centre to get to Manchester's popular botanical gardens. It's perfect for a summer stroll with a book or your favorite podcast. We love it here for the snippet of calm outside of the busy city centre.

Salford Quays

Get Directions Salford Quays, Manchester M50 3UB

Across the water from Media City, you can find Salford Quays, where you can enjoy a similar vibe. Expect city lights at night, good food, and regular events. We love to chill around here on a summer evening with wine and picky snacks, or with a takeaway from one of our cheap eats.

Ancoats Marina

Get Directions 46 Blossom St, Manchester M4 6AJ

One of our favourite "Manny" spots is Ancoats, and their marina tops it off. It's home to some of our favourite independent food and stores, and it's a great walk! A stone's throw away from the city centre, if you’re in the area, it’s 100% worth a pit stop, or a visit for part of the day.

The Fallowfield Loop

Get Directions The Fallowfield Loop, Manchester M14 6FQ

Towards the south of Manchester’s city centre is The Fallowfield Loop, an off-road cycle, pedestrian, and horse riding route. Get those steps in and brave the whole 5.4 miles, or just head for a short walk with a coffee to go.
