History

When L.A. Guns needed a new vocalist, Stradlin suggested Hollywood Rose singer Axl Rose. This led to Guns N' Roses being formed in March 1985 by Rose, rhythm guitarist Stradlin, along with L.A. Guns founders lead guitarist Guns, drummer Rob Gardner and bassist Ole Beich.

Guns N' Roses might sound like the perfect name for a LA rock band, but actually it came about by complete happenstance. It's actually an amalgamation of two previous bands, Hollywood Rose and L.A. Guns, that would later form to become GNR.

Even the most ardent fans of Guns N’ Roses are divided when it comes to “Bad Apples”. The band had one of the most stunning debuts in rock, but they began to fall apart during the next few years. However, despite the substance abuse, personal issues, and massive egos, the members rarely outsourced songwriters.

“Bad Apples” was credited to Slash, Duff McKagan, Izzy Stradlin and Axl Rose. At the time, they were fighting over the songwriting credits. According to Slash, Rose also insisted getting a cut from drummer Steven Adler’s share. They spent so much time trying to figure how to split everything.
